What is the HTML tag ?
HTML tag stands for underline, and it’s used to underline the text enclosed within the tag.
HTML tag represents a span of inline text which should be rendered in a way that indicates that it has a non-textual annotation.
HTML tag text is rendered by default in a simple solid underline, but it may be altered using CSS properties.
HTML tag requires a starting as well as ending tag.
How HTML tag works ?
HTML tag was originally used to identify text that should be underlined.
HTML tag was deprecated in HTML 4.01, but in HTML5 it was redefined to represent text that should be displayed in a way that is an unarticulated but stylistically distinct from the surrounding text.
Whatever text is inside the tag is displayed in underlined format (unless you style it otherwise).
It is mostly used to identify misspelled terms.
Note : Avoid using the element where it could be confused for a hyperlink!
Note : HTML element should not be used just to underline the text because it is a deprecated HTML tag. For this purpose, use the CSS text-decoration property set to “underline”.
Why is the HTML tag used ?
HTML tag is used to add semantic meaning and specifies a text, which is stylistically different from a normal text.
HTML tag specifies words or spans of text that need to be represented differently such as misspelled words or proper nouns in East-Asian characters.
