What is HTML <tfoot> tag ?

HTML <tfoot> tag is used to group footer content in an HTML table.

HTML <tfoot> element is used in conjunction with the <thead> and <tbody> elements to specify each part of a table (footer, header, body).

HTML <tfoot> tag contains summary of the table data.

HTML <tfoot> tag is used as a child element of HTML table (<table>) along with <thead> and <tbody> elements, where <thead> defines table header and <tbody> defines the table body.

Note: HTML <tfoot> element must have one or more <tr> tags inside.

How HTML <tfoot> tag works ?

HTML <tfoot> tag is used in adding a footer to a table.

HTML <tfoot> element defines a set of rows summarizing the columns of the table.

HTML <tfoot> element identifies one or more <tr> elements as containing summary contents of a table’s columns.

In HTML5, <tfoot> can be placed either before or after <tbody> and <tr> elements, but must appear after any <caption>, <colgroup>, and <thead> elements.

Note : The <thead>, <tbody>, and <tfoot> elements will not affect the layout of the table by default. However, we can use CSS to style these elements.
