What is the HTML <strike> tag ?
HTML <strike> tag is also called as strikethrough tag.
HTML <strike> tag represents the text that is no longer accurate or relevant.
HTML <strike> tag displays the text inside in strikethrough style.
HTML <strike> tag displays the text with a line through it.
HTML <strike> tag is removed in HTML5.
How HTML <strike> tag works ?
HTML <strike> tag specifies text that is no longer correct, accurate or relevant.
HTML <strike> tag is found within the <body> tag.
Whatever text is written between <strike> (start) and </strike> (end) tag, renders as a strike a line through the text.
HTML <strike> tag is used to draw a horizontal line over the text (also called strikethrough).
It is similar to the <del> tag which is used to identify text that has been removed from a document.
Since HTML <strike> is no longer available, use <del> and <s> tags instead.
Why is the HTML <strike> tag used ?
HTML <strike> tag is used in e-commerce websites, (For example, it could be used to demonstrate a product that has had its price marked down, while still displaying the original price but with a line through the middle).
