What is HTML <div> tag ?
HTML <div> tag defines a division or a section in an HTML document.
HTML <div> tag is used as a container for HTML elements.
Any content can be put inside the HTML <div> tag.
HTML <div> tag is easily styled by using the class or id attribute.
HTML <div> tag has both open(<div>) and closing (</div>) tag.
Why HTML <div> tag is used ?
HTML <div> tag is used to group all the HTML elements together.
HTML <div> tag acts as a container tag, which is used to encapsulate many elements and divides HTML document into number of sections.
How HTML <div> tag works ?
HTML <div> tag make divisions of content in the web page like (text, images, header, footer, navigation bar, etc).
HTML <div> tag helps us to separate out data in the web page and we can create a particular section for particular data or function in the web pages.
HTML <div> tag encapsulates the page elements and divides the HTML documents into sections.
Note: By default, browsers always place a line break before and after the <div> element.
Similar tag like <div> tag is <span> tag.
The difference between the div tag and the span tag is that the div tag is used with block-level elements and the span tag is used with inline elements.
