What is the HTML <progress> tag ?

HTML <progress> tag represents the progress of a task or user action.

HTML <progress> tag was introduced in HTML 5 and its supported in all new browsers.

Note: We should use the <progress> tag in conjunction with JavaScript to display the progress of a task.

HTML <progress> bar is often marked as a percentage value from 0 to 100%.

How HTML <progress> tag works ?

HTML <progress> tag shows the progress of a downloading, loading, file uploading on the document.

HTML <progress> tag displays an indicator showing the completion progress of a task, typically displayed as a progress bar.

HTML <progress> tag shows the dynamically changing values in the progress bar.

Note : Always add the <label> tag for best accessibility practices!

Note: HTML <progress> tag is not suitable for representing a gauge (e.g. disk space usage or relevance of a query result).

To represent a gauge, we can use the <meter> tag instead.
