What is HTML <s> tag ?

HTML <s> tag is also called as strikethrough tag.

HTML <s> tag represents the text that is no longer accurate or relevant.

HTML <s> tag displays the text inside in strikethrough style.

HTML <s> tag displays the the text with a line through it.

How HTML <s> tag works ?

HTML <s> tag specifies text that is no longer correct, accurate or relevant.

HTML <s> tag is found within the <body> tag.

Whatever text written between <s> (start) and </s> (end) tag, renders as a strike a line through the text.

HTML <s> tag is used to draw a horizontal line over the text (also called strikethrough).

It is similar to <del> tag which is used to identify text has been removed from a document.

Since HTML <s> is not so appropriate, for better usage <del> and <ins> tags are used.

Why is HTML <s> tag used ?

The HTML <s> tag is used in e-commerce website, (For example, it could be used to demonstrate a product that has had its price marked down, whilst still displaying the original price but with a line through the middle).
