What is the HTML <td> tag ?
HTML <td> tag defines a standard data cell in an HTML table.
HTML <td> tag data cell must be used as child elements of a parent <tr> element.
HTML <td> tag contains data for the table, and not table headings.
By default browsers has render the <td> element contains in a normal font weight and left aligned.
What are the types of cells in HTML <table> ?
HTML table has two kinds of cells, they are
1. Header cells
Header cells contains header information (created with the <th> element)
2. Data cells
Data cells contain data (created with the <td> element)
How HTML <td> tag works ?
HTML <td> tag is used for specifying a cell or table data within a table.
HTML <td> elements text are in regular and left-aligned by default.
But HTML <th> tag text are bold and centered by default.
HTML <td> tag must be the child element of <tr> (table row) tag and each table row can contain multiple <td> data elements.
The grouped <td> elements of a <tr> tag renders as a single row in the table.
Note : All the rows in the table should contain an equal number of cells, which is equivalent to the number of cells in the longest row. If there are less cells in a row, then the browser will automatically fill the row, placing empty cells at the end of it.
Why is the HTML <td> tag used ?
HTML <td> tag can be used to insert text, form, image, table etc. Some Advanced tables may also contain the <caption>, <colgroup>, <col>, <tfoot>, <tbody>, or <thead> elements.
