HTML Tags – Font Tag


What is HTML <font> tag ?

HTML <font> tag was used in HTML 4 to specify the font face, font size, and color of text.

HTML <font> tag is removed in HTML5 specification.

How HTML <font> tag works ?

HTML <font> tag acts as a container inside we can set the size, color and face for the text.

By using size attribute we can set the font size from 1 (smaller value) to 7 (larger value).

But by default the font size is 3.

Note :

Since HTML <font> tag is removed in HTML5, it is recommended that you use CSS properties such as font, font-family, font-size and color to format the text in the document.

Why HTML <font> tag is used ?

HTML <font> tag plays an important role in the web page to create an attractive and readable web page.

HTML <font> tag is used to set the font size, font face and font color for the text inside the <font> tag.

The HTML <font> tag defines the font size, color and face of text in the HTML document.

What are the attributes for HTML <font> tag ?

Syntax :

<font size="1" face="Times New Roman" color="red">some text </font>

1. Font Tag with size attribute

Font size ranges from 1 to 7 and the default size is 3.

Example:

2. Font Tag with face attribute

Font type can be set by using face attribute with font tag in HTML document.

Note : The fonts used by the user needs to be installed in the system first.

3. Font Tag with color attribute

Font color is used to set the text color and color can be specifed either with its name or with its hex code.
