What is the HTML <menu> tag ?
HTML <menu> tag is used for creating a menu list.
HTML <menu> tag displays an unordered list of items/menu of commands on a HTML document.
HTML <menu> tag has been deprecated in HTML and redefined in HTML5.
How HTML <menu> tag works ?
It contains one or more <li> tags that define the menu items of the list.
HTML <menu> element has number of <menuitem> elements for each selectable option.
Also there will be <hr> elements that break up the content of the menu into sections with the help of separator lines.
Note: The <menu> tag was deprecated in HTML 4.01 and again included in HTML 5.1 specification. But it will be better to ignore it as it is experimental and not supported by many browsers.
Why is the HTML <menu> tag used ?
HTML <menu> tag defines a list of commands and its used for creating context menus, toolbars, listing form controls, and commands.
HTML <menu> tag provides an effective way to add menu items to context menus and to create interactive web application menus.
HTML <menu> tag is supported only Mozilla Firefox browser.
