What is HTML <mark> ?
HTML <mark> tag is used to highlighted (marked) specific text for reference purpose.
HTML <mark> tag defines the text that should be marked or highlighted inside the HTML document.
This is a newly introduced/added tag and introduced in HTML5.
How HTML <mark> works ?
HTML <mark> tag highlights the text part inside of another element such as paragraph, for reference or any notation purpose.
In most of the browser’s, the text inside the <mark> tag is rendered in the yellow background, but it can be changed using CSS background-color property.
Why is HTML <mark> used ?
HTML Mark <mark> element represents text which is marked or highlighted for reference or notation purposes.
Due to the marked notation the user can easily view the relevance or importance of the text inside the <mark> element.
