What is HTML <footer> ?

HTML <footer> tag defines a footer section of the html document.

HTML <footer> tag introduced in HTML5 specifications.

HTML <footer> tag contains details about the author, copyright, contact us, sitemap, or links to related documents.

HTML footer tag require a start tag <footer> as well as an end tag </footer>.

How HTML <footer> works ?

HTML <footer> tag acts as a section usually placed in the bottom of the webpage.

Note: we can have one or many footer elements in one html document.

For example, we can place a footer inside the <article> tag to store information related to the article (links, footnotes, etc.).

Why HTML <footer> is used ?
