What is HTML <details> tag ?

HTML <details> tag specifies additional details that the user can open and close on demand.

Any content can be put inside the <details> tag.

HTML <details> tag shows the additional details in expand or collapse as per user click action.

Why HTML <details> tag is used ?

Whenever there is a need for showing additional details to the user on demand, <details> tag is used.

How HTML <details> tag works ?

HTML <details> element represents a control from which the user can obtain additional information on-demand.

HTML <summary> tag is used in conjunction with <details> to specify a visible heading for the details.


Its like a widget that the user can open and close, by default the widget is closed and When opened, it expands, and displays the content within.

In Webpage its shows a small triangle which rotates or twists to indicate open/closed status.
